On the Couch with Jesus

Perhaps, like me, you need an invitation today. An invitation to get that cup of coffee and sit on the couch with Jesus. An invitation to unload all of the heavy things you’ve been carrying. One by one. An invitation to freedom and healing.
Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Dear friend, I pray that you will take Him up on His invitation. He is so patient. There’s nothing you can say that will shock Him. There is no amount of time you can take that will make Him angsty. There is no amount of depth or weight that will be too much for Him. There is no amount of silence that can make Him uncomfortable and no amount of words that will cause Him to grow absent minded or weary. There's no amount of fear that can remain in His perfect love.
He is kind. He is present. He is the Healer and He is the mirror you want - no, need - to look into.
Sit on the couch with Him. Unload all these things and ask Him what He has for you in return, because all good gifts comes from the Father in whom there is NO shifting shadows or inconsistencies (James 1:17).
He is worthy to be trusted.
No time with Him is wasted. You don’t have to ‘skip over’ the hard bits and ‘pull yourself together’. He pulls you together. He is the strength on which we stand. He is the Face we point others towards.
Paul was no stranger to this process...
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (TPT) But he answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me. So I’m not defeated by my weakness, but delighted! For when I feel my weakness and endure mistreatment—when I’m surrounded with troubles on every side ... I am made yet stronger. For my weakness becomes a portal to God’s power.
2 Corinthians 11:30 (NIV) If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.
There is One who is a safe place for your cares and burdens. One who is the fresh and living water that washes and cleanses and refreshes. One whose arms are open - exuding compassion.
Respond to His invitation. Sit with Him.
He knows what you need.
